The Classes

A dancer in arabesque at the barre in the ARTIS studio

Ballet Class

60–75 min

Our classical ballet classes follow a clear progression through the Vaganova method, taught not only by the book but through real stage experience — from the Vaganova Academy to the Mariinsky Theatre, the Bavarian State Opera and the Vienna State Opera. You are placed in the level that fits you, and you move up when your technique is ready, not when the calendar says so.

Levels

Absolute Beginners
Facing the barre with both hands supported — the five positions, the first pliés and tendus, correct alignment from the start.
Beginners+
One hand on the barre, longer combinations, and the first work in the centre without support.
Intermediate & Advanced
A full class: barre, centre, adagio, and allegro with jumps.

Floor-Barre

60 minAll levels

Ballet, from the floor. A distinctive ARTIS class — the classical barre taken to the floor, the first of its kind on an open studio timetable in Vienna. Instead of standing at the barre, you work seated on a mat, performing the fundamental movements of classical ballet. Without supporting the body vertically, you concentrate fully on muscle engagement, coordination and spinal alignment.

Ballerina Workout

60 minAll levels

One method, visible results. A signature ARTIS method created by a prima ballerina with professional athletes of pre-Olympic experience. An intensive full-body conditioning class on the floor, combining ballet principles, athletic conditioning and precise body control, and closing with a stretch while the muscles are still warm. Every level, always adapted.

Morning Barre & Stretching

60 minMorningsAll levels

An elegant morning ritual designed to gently wake the body and prepare you for the day. A light, accessible ballet barre followed by a full-body stretch. It feels like a workout, but never an exhausting one, and the body starts the day warm and aligned. Suitable for every level, no ballet experience required.

Ballet Stretching

40–50 minAdults & children

Stretch like a ballerina, move like yourself. A gentle, intelligent full-body stretching class inspired by the way professional dancers care for their bodies. Splits, hip opening, spinal mobility, posture and alignment, approached gradually and consciously. No forcing — you control the depth while the teacher guides the technique.

Levels

Stretching Light
40 minutes, softer — it follows the barre on the same evening.
Stretching
50 minutes, the full session, on its own.

Pointe

45 minBeginners welcome

Your dream begins on pointe. Once a week, the ideal introduction to the world of pointe work: mindful, precise and safe. Pointe from the ground up — strengthening the feet, finding correct alignment, and the first controlled rises. The length of the class is chosen with intention: effective training without overexertion, with particular emphasis on health and sustainable progress.

Pre-Ballet

45 minChildren 3–4

The first, gentle step into the world of ballet. Through play, music and imagination, our youngest students discover movement and grace — learning to hear a rhythm, to move with it, and to explore what their bodies can do. Posture, coordination and balance develop quietly, without any pressure at all. From the very first class they are addressed as “ladies”, a classical tradition that sets the tone from the start.

Primary Ballet

60 minChildren 5–7

Real ballet starts here, taught with care, structure and a proven methodology, but always without pressure. Under experienced teachers, children develop the things that shape a dancer: beautiful posture, proper alignment, and the physical qualities classical ballet is built on. Musicality, a sense of rhythm and an ear for music grow alongside them. Learning feels like joy, and the results are real.

Junior Ballet

60 minChildren 8–12

Real ballet, taken to the next level. A solid foundation grows into genuine skill: technique is refined at the barre and in the centre while musicality, rhythm and artistry deepen. Ballet at this age shapes a healthy posture, strengthens the back and core, and develops the grace, flexibility and coordination that carry over into everything else — along with focus, discipline and the confidence to carry yourself well.

Pre-Professional Junior

75 minChildren 10–132+ years’ training

A select group for dedicated young dancers with prior ballet experience, ready to go deeper — or to prepare for admission to a professional ballet school. Professional, structured training in the original Vaganova methodology, led personally by Alexandra: graduate of the Vaganova Academy in St Petersburg and former dancer at the Mariinsky Theatre. Individual attention in a small, select group. Discipline. Dedication. Excellence.
